Ok Fashionistas, the shirtdresses trend that I am bringing to you is not exactly a trend. Since shirtdresses are so innovative and timeless, they have been elevated to the level of style. However, with Spring rapidly approaching, I felt it necessary to shine the spotlight on one of the most versatile pieces in any woman’s warm weather wardrobe. Shirtdresses have been around since the mid-1950’s (the fabulous Brigitte Bardot wore them like no other!) and have been constantly reinvented and re-energized with new meaning ever since. So for this Spring, here are a few of my tips on picking perfect shirtdresses.
- Watch Your Hem. To properly rock shirtdresses this Spring, go for shirtdresses with a hem that hits at the knee or above. Since the lines of shirtdresses are classic, clean and on the straighter side, you want to give your look an edge by going for something a bit shorter.
- Go for Sky High Heels. Shirtdresses are innocent enough, so to not look like a schoolgirl, you want to go for a more womanly approach by pairing your shirtdresses with
fashion-savvy heels. Try the platforms seen on the runway for Spring.
- Under Accessorize. Coming from me, I know this tip sounds crazy, but you want to under accessorize when you wear shirtdresses. Since you don’t want your accessories competing with your shirtdresses, go for a simple pair of earrings and bangles.
No matter how you try this trend, shirtdresses are a great investment for any fashionista to make, as they are timeless and fashionable year after year.
